SUMMARY:Surrogate Models of Nonlinear Gyrokinetics and High-Fidelity Fluid
 -Kinetic Edge Plasma Codes
DESCRIPTION:Lorenzo Zanisi (UKAEA); Fabian Paischer (JKU Linz, Mistral AI)
; Gianluca Galletti (JKU Linz, Emmi AI); Gerald Gutenbrunner (JKU Linz); W
ill Hornsby, Naomi Carey, and Francis Casson (UKAEA); Theodore Brown (UKAE
A, DeepMind); Michele Marin (EPFL); Stefano Gabriellini (UKAEA); Enzo Verg
naud and Clarisse Bourdelle (CEA); Andrew Snodin, Harry Dudding, and Colin
  Roach (UKAEA); Garud Snoep and Aaron Ho (MIT); Stanislas Pamela (UKAEA);
Johannes Brandstetter (Emmi AI); Jonathan Citrin (DeepMind); and George Ho
lt, Ziga Stanca, Romain Futtersack, and James Simpson (UKAEA)\n\nHigh-fide
lity gyrokinetic turbulence modelling and scrape-off layer modelling are c
rucial for scenario development, but they not included in integrated model
s due to the associated prohibitive computational cost. Firstly, this talk
will present surrogate models of nonlinear gyrokinetics (operating in the
full 5D phase space), demonstrating superior performance compared to quas
ilinear models and ~ms predictive capability. Secondly, I will introduce
a bespoke dataset of over 50,000 EDGE2D-EIRENE MAST-U simulations. Surroga
te models of properties useful for both core-edge integration and target h
eat loads predictions will be presented alongside full-field surrogate mod
els and a few relevant applications.\n\nDomain: Physics, Computational Met
hods and Applied Mathematics\n\nSession Chair: Stephan Brunner (EPFL)\n\n
