SUMMARY:Making Waves on AMD GPUs with the AMD Next-Generation Fortran Comp
 iler
DESCRIPTION:Paul Mullowney (AMD, Inc)\n\nFortran remains a key language in
scientific computing, especially in domains such as weather and climate m
odelling. In that context, AMD has created a next-generation Fortran compi
ler based on the open-source LLVM Flang project, enabling HPC developers t
o exploit AMD GPUs through OpenMP target syntax and direct ROCm/HIP interf
aces. Since its introduction, the compiler has been actively developed, le
ading to new features and improved performance. This talk provides an over
view of the AMD Fortran compiler and its evolution, with practical example
s from the ECWam wave model code.\n\nDomain: Climate, Weather, and Earth S
 ciences\n\nSession Chair: Ahmad Nawab (ECMWF)\n\n
