SUMMARY:HPC+Quantum Integration: Middleware for Authentication and Quantum
  Resource Accounting
DESCRIPTION:Mikael Johansson, Olli Mukkula, Jake Muff, and Michael Mucciar
di (CSC - IT Center for Science) and Modupe Falodun (CSC – IT Center for S
cience)\n\nThis session presents the middleware architecture developed wit
hin the Finnish Quantum‑Computing Infrastructure (FiQCI) to integrate quan
tum computing resources into high‑performance computing (HPC) environments
. The FiQCI middleware introduces a dedicated quantum-resource accounting
layer which validates user and project authorisation for specific quantum
backends. Additionally, it verifies the availability of allocated Quantum
Processing Unit (QPU) resources before jobs are submitted. To support secu
re and auditable HPC+QC workflows, the system issues ephemeral tokens that
enable precise usage tracking, controlled credential management, and reli
able access to quantum devices. This session outlines the overall system a
rchitecture, the key design principles, and implementation considerations.
We will also demonstrate how this design and implementation approach enab
les practical, secure, and maintainable integration of quantum computing c
apabilities within existing HPC infrastructures.\n\nDomain: Chemistry and
Materials, Engineering, Physics, Computational Methods and Applied Mathema
 tics\n\nSession Chair: Alfio Lazzaro (HPE)\n\n
