SUMMARY:Introduction to and Latest Developments in GEMPICX
DESCRIPTION:Emil Poulsen (Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics)\n\nThe
GEMPICX framework, recently made public (https://github.com/NMPPMaxPlanck/
GEMPICX), is an AMReX-based (https://amrex-codes.github.io/amrex/) structu
re preserving plasma physics simulation code still undergoing active devel
opment. We will present an overview of the current capabilities of the fra
mework, along with features both recently added and under active construct
ion, with a focus on software design. Highlights will include switching pa
rticle treatment from an array-of-structs to a struct-of-arrays layout, ma
king the framework usable as a dependency, and a unified time stepper and
I/O interface allowing for automatic checkpointing and diagnostics outputt
ing.\n\nDomain: Physics, Computational Methods and Applied Mathematics\n\n
Session Chair: Eric Sonnendrücker (Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics
 , Technical University of Munich)\n\n
