SUMMARY:A New Era of Computing: Hybrid AI–Quantum Algorithms in Quantum-Ce
 ntric Supercomputing
DESCRIPTION:Teodoro Laino (IBM Research Europe)\n\nWe present a quantum-ce
ntric perspective on the emerging convergence of high-performance computin
g (HPC) and quantum computing, emphasizing algorithmic advances that enabl
e practical scientific applications in the near term. Central to this para
digm is quantum-centric supercomputing (QCSC), a hybrid architecture that
tightly integrates classical resources (CPUs/GPUs) with quantum processing
units (QPUs) to execute workflows that are intractable for either paradig
m alone. We introduce a class of hybrid algorithms, including sample-based
quantum diagonalization (SQD) and its randomized Krylov extensions, which
leverage quantum sampling to construct physically relevant subspaces for
efficient ground-state estimation of many-body systems. These methods demo
nstrate scalability and robustness for quantum chemistry applications, inc
luding molecular energy estimation, biomolecular modeling, and drug design
. This work argues that sustained progress toward quantum advantage will b
e driven by co-design of algorithms, hardware, and hybrid workflows within
quantum-centric HPC environments.\n\nSession Chair: Prashanth Kanduri (ET
 H Zurich / CSCS)\n\n
